Bringing Blues out of the box!

The Lucky Losers are a male/female duet singing team that front a 6 piece band headed up by Cathy Lemons who has been called “the finest light-skinned female blues vocalist in the U.S.!” (Andy  Grigg, REAL Blues) and Phil Berkowitz “A top-flight blues vocalist/harmonica player!” (Paul Freeman, San Jose Mercury News). This team draws on a wide range of influences including Chicago and Texas blues, Stax/Volt-styled soul, blues rock, jazz, and New Orleans funk—plus their own originals.

Their new album “A Winning Hand” is taking off with a jolt. The album released in June of 2015 and produced by Kid Andersen at Greasland Studios out of San Jose, California, features top level players like Steve Freund, Andersen himself, plus 2014 IBC “Best Guitarist” winner Ben Rice. The album is charting high on The Roots Music Report's Top 50 Blues Albums and with the Living Blues radio charts.

11:00pm [11:00pm] LAURA BENITEZ & THE HEARTACHE
Description:
"Americana & Honky Tonk Country"

Laura Benitez - lead vocals /rhythm guitar
Bob Spector - guitar/ vocals
Hugh O'Conner - drums
Ted O'Connell - bass

Laura Benitez and the Heartache use the three chord tools of country music to tell the simple, unvarnished truth about love, too much whiskey, and the call of the road. Their songs range from honky-tonk shuffles to rock ‘n’ roll numbers to sweet old time waltzes, and cover everything from unwed motherhood (“Me or the Baby”) to mean drunks (“Don’t Wake the Devil”), with a whole lot of heartbreak in between. Their twangy honesty shines through in straightforward arrangements, crystalline harmonies, and spare instrumentation. Beware their catchy hooks and sweet melodies – these stray puppy tunes will follow you home and become your most steadfast companions.
